Welcome To My Practice
Clients who meet with me can expect, in the first few sessions, for me to gather important information regarding psychological, physical, and social histories. From there, I collaborate with the my clients to set treatment goals and a plan for working together. Sessions are generally scheduled weekly. The length of therapy is determined by the goals the client identifies.
My approach to therapy is relational-based. I utilize Intimacy Therapy principles when working with client's. Intimacy Therapy states that humans are created by God with relational needs and long to relate and be known by others. When our relational needs go unmet we tend to exhibit unhealthy thinking, unhealed, emotions, and unproductive behaviors (2014, The Great Commandment Network, Intimacy Institute).
I am fully certified in Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma (2014, EMDRIA EMDR International Association).
I am also a certified Temperament Therapist. Temperament Therapy is based on the Scripture and the God-given temperament . This comprehensive model provides both a powerful, accurate client assessment tools and an effective framework for creating treatment plans. In the hands of a trained Christian Pastoral Counselor, it provides a reliable, insightful treatment model with excellent success rates (Pastoral Counseling Center, 2019).

My Christian faith shapes my worldview, and I enjoy working with individuals who would like to integrate their Christian faith into the therapeutic process. I find great satisfaction when working with individuals with trauma related issues. I have worked extensively with parent/teen relationship issues and family relationship issues. When working with couples, I work to avoid using counseling sessions as a time to cycle in and out of conflict, but rather encourage the counseling sessions to be used as an opportunity to learn new skills, to more successfully communicate needs, increase vulnerability, and to deepen intimacy. Issues of faith, forgiveness and the re-instillation of hope, love, and intimacy are of great importance to my process.
